Der erste VW Passat war eigentlich gar kein Volkswagen, sondern ein Audi.

VW hatte Audi einige Jahre vorher übernommen und die hatten den Audi 80 entwickelt.
VW had taken over Audi a few years earlier and they had developed the Audi 80.

VW dachte sich, okay, wir wollen mal wieder einen neuen Hit landen.
VW thought, okay, we want to land another new hit.

Also übernehmen wir den Audi 80, aber passen den an.
So we'll take over the Audi 80, but adapt it.

Bis zur B-Säule, also bis hinter die vorderen Türen, blieb alles gleich.
Up to the B-pillar, so behind the front doors, everything remained the same.

Aber der hintere Teil wurde angepasst.

Und so entstand dann der erste VW Passat.

Kommen wir zu Fakt Nummer drei.

Hätte sich das durchgesetzt, dann gäbe es jetzt nicht nur den Porsche 911er,

sondern halt auch den Volkswagen 511er.

Ich weiß nicht, wie ich das fände.

Naja, auf jeden Fall hat man sich dann am Ende doch für einen anderen Namen entschieden
Anyway, in the end, they decided on a different name after all,

und zwar wurde es Passat.
and that name was Passat.

Passat in Anlehnung an den Passat-Wind.
Passat, named after the trade winds.

Der erinnert nämlich an Beständigkeit und gutes Klima.
Which are reminiscent of stability and a good climate.

Der VW-Passat hat 2019 einen Facelift bekommen
The VW Passat got a facelift in 2019
[04:10]
und seither auch einen verbesserten Travel Assist.
and has had an improved Travel Assist ever since.

Das heißt, dass der Wagen seitdem teilautonom fahren kann.
This means that the car has been able to drive semi-autonomously since then.

Der hält die Spur, der erkennt Verkehrsschilder oder auch Tempobeschränkungen.
It stays in lane, it recognizes traffic signs or speed limits.
[04:21]
Sollte zum Beispiel eine Tempobeschränkung vorliegen, dann bremst der automatisch ab.
For example, if there is a speed limit, it automatically brakes.

Und ansonsten, wenn freie Fahrt ist, dann beschleunigt er bis zu 210 kmh.

Wie eben schon erwähnt, fährt der Wagen nicht vollständig autonom, sondern nur teilautonom.

Also ihr könnt euch jetzt nicht zurücklegen und irgendwie mit dem Handy spielen also.
